What I Could Not See

To be afflicted by heartbreak’s curse.
To be dead or left on the wayside, there is nothing worse.
Washing into these tides, solemn with regret,
Wishing I had not put my pride to the test.
There is nothing more to say.
What ever happened to us that day?
I was once the object of your affection,
Now, I’m simply your rejection.
Is this how things are supposed to stay?
Fading from your existence.
Facing this resistance.
And watching from a distance.

This is not what I always wanted, losing what I could not see,
Bringing about a dreaded destiny, a horrible reality.
Falling behind the scenes, gone and left forgotten.
Now nothing more than a faded dream, a distant memory.

This grief has left me torn.
Adrift, without no form.
But to force me from such a wish.
Lost without your kiss, pierced by fate’s cruel twist.
One day, could we return?
Not till ages pass.
Until then, what would we learn?
This is not what I always yearned.
Losing what I could not see,
Watching such a destiny fall before me, unforeseen,
Descending into this deep abyss, one without my one true wish.
Ceasing from your imagination, falling from your recognition.

***

This is not what I always wanted, losing what I could not see,
Bringing about a dreaded destiny, a horrible reality.
Falling behind the scenes, gone and left forgotten.
Now nothing more than a faded dream, a distant memory.
